Capital Oil founder, Senator Ifeanyi Uba, dies in London hotel

Capital Oil boss and senator representing Anambra South, Ifeanyi Patrick Uba, has died in a London hotel.

Chairman Senate Committee on Public Affairs, Mr Yemi Adaramodu, confirmed his death to BusinessDay on Saturday morning.

He was died of cardiac arrest on Friday. He became a senator on the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) but recently moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He had left for London two days ago for undisclosed reasons, though some said it was for medical purposes. Ubah was a politician, entrepreneur and businessman.

Close associates say he is interested in becoming the next Anambra State governor by taking power off present governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo. 

On July 26, late Mr Uba donated N71 million to the APC in Anambra State.
