Nairametrics, a leading business and financial news platform in Nigeria, has appointed a multiple award-winning investigative and data journalist, Odinaka Anudu, as its managing editor.
Anudu, who has amassed nearly 20 journalism awards, will now lead a team of talented and enterprising journalists with a vision to catapult Nairametrics into becoming Africa’s biggest business and financial news platform.
With nearly 4 million readers, Nairametrics boasts itself as Nigeria’s most-read business and financial news platform, and Anudu and his team are expected to strengthen and expand this foothold in Africa.
Anudu, who has now worked in 8 newsrooms, has several years of experience in journalism. He has been a South-East Bureau Chief at Nigerian OrientNews and Assistant Editor at BusinessDay for many years.
He was News Editor and later Deputy Editor at the International Centre for Investigative Reporting. He was also Deputy Business Editor at The Punch.
He was Editor of Dataphyte and Managing Editor of Economy Post, which he co-founded.
Economy Post, which is currently the only investigative business and financial news platform in Nigeria, is currently being managed by a team of investigative journalists.
He also contributes to The Africa Report as well as articles to international platforms. Anudu is the only Nigerian journalist who is participating in a global investigation funded by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).
He got his master’s degree in Finance and Investment Management at the University of Salford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, and another in Development Economics in Nigeria. He has his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, and was also trained by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) on trade negotiation, having been nominated by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Anudu investigated China’s influence on South Africa’s automobile industry in Gauteng, which found that China slyly makes it hard for South Africans to learn vehicle production by deliberately preventing its nationals from participating in some production lines.
An author of 2 books, Anudu was Secretary of the National Drug Abuse Association, supporting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in its war against drug abuse.
He investigated Lagos and Rivers State transport sectors and found, through primary data, how much touts pocket each year at the expense of these two states.
